Thai 101
Consider this the starting point for all students interested in learning to prepare traditional Thai food, as you learn to create three of our greatest crowd pleasers (Somtum Green Papaya Salad, our Old School Pad Thai, and Green Curry) under the direction of Ngam’s Chef Hong Thaimee

Thai Cooking for Kids (launching early 2015) New
At Ngam, we believe all kids should have access to the kitchen and to be able to craft their own food, enjoying the creative process along the way. With this in mind, Chef Hong Thaimee has created a course designed specifically for children ages 8 to 15. 

What dishes will I learn to cook?

In Thai 101, you will cook three staple Thai dishes, all of which can be made vegetarian or vegan-friendly upon request:
1) Somtum Green Papaya Salad
2) Old School Pad Thai
3) Green Curry

In Thai Cooking for Kids, kids will cook three fun Thai favorites, all of which can be made vegetarian or vegan-friendly upon request:
1) Spring Rolls
2) Thai Fruit Salad
3) Thai Fried Rice

What is included in the classes?
All ingredients and equipment are provided on-site, as well as a digital copy of all recipes. Chefs will also receive a take-home Singha-branded cooking apron and tote bag.  All students will also have the chance to enjoy their cooking and are welcome to a Thai beer (only offered in Thai 101) provided by Singha or non-alcoholic beverage of choice.

When are courses held and how long do they last?
Classes are held on Saturday mornings at our restaurant, located at 99 3rd Avenue (Btwn 12 and 13 st) at 11:30 a.m. and last approximately 2 hours.

How many students attend each class?
In an effort to keep the classes intimate and engaging, each class is limited to 10 students or less (except for private events).

How much are classes?
Open classes, held on Saturday mornings, are priced at $95 per student (not inclusive of tax + gratuity).

Ngam also coordinates private cooking classes for parties of 5 or more, which are scheduled according to the chef’s availability and are priced as follows (please note that we cannot conduct classes beyond 3pm):

5 to 10 students – $115 per student (not inclusive of tax + gratuity)
10 or more students – $105 per student (not inclusive of tax + gratuity)

Please note all private parties must be paid for in advance.

What is your cancellation policy?
In the event of a cancellation of your reservation, we enforce the following policy to cover the cost of ingredients, the instructor’s time, and the popularity of the course. Charges are as follows:

Less than 72 hours advance notice – 10% of class costs
Less than 48 hours advance notice – 50% of class costs
No show on the course date – 100% of class costs

For private parties, we enforce the following charges:

Less than 1 week advance notice – 10% of class costs
Less than 72 hours advance notice – 50% of class costs
Less than 48 hours advance notice or no show on the course date– 100% of class costs
